Shopping Basket
All of the DIGICAT systems support the same shopping basket facility. This is a bespoke system based on our core product but heavily customised to integrate SEAMLESSLY with the look and feel of the remainder of your website. This gives your site a more professional and consistent appearance and consistency is an important factor in website design. Some other sites may use third-party shopping basket systems, which clearly do not match the design on the original site.

Basket View and Edit
The DIGICAT system allows customers to easily review their shopping basket contents. From the view screen, customers can amend the quantity of any item currently in the basket, or remove them.

Basket Persistence
This is available on all our DIGICAT systems. If any item from your catalogue is added to a shopping basket, the system interprets that as a potential order and an order number is allocated instantly to that transaction. This is logged on your website and you can view these potential orders using FileMan. The system will also log the order number on the customers PC for a maximum period of ONE year during which time, numerous visits to the site can be made and the SAME shopping basket will be available for editing and so on. The basket will be cleared if a) the customer visits the checkout, b) a period of one year elapses or c) the customer deletes the stored information cookie from their PC.

Currency Systems
The DIGICAT system is able to interrogate the exchange rates selected on your website providing you are using Digital Ornaments exchange rate subsystem (DIGI-ERS). This is handled automatically and with no additional input from the customer. Again, once an exchange rate is selected online, it remains in effect on the customers PC for a period of one year. Subsequent visits to your website during the period will automatically recall the preset exchange rate.

Checkout
The checkout system used by DIGICAT-1 does NOT require registration or any secure server payments. It is therefore very cheap and efficient. The principle used by this system is that the customer e-mails you details of what they would like to buy and you contact them to arrange delivery and payment details. This works similar to the auction TV channel bid-up.tv and encourages orders from customers who would prefer not to give out credit card details over the Internet.

Confirming An Order
At the checkout, he customer is presented with the order total, order number, and FOUR input boxes. The four boxes are labelled, Name, Address, Email and Phone. This information is required so that you, the seller, can contact your potential customer. Name is mandatory but can be a first name only. Phone, Address and e-mail are ALL optional but at LEAST ONE must be completed. You may therefore be asked to contact the customer via any one of these methods. Once these details have been completed satisfactorily, the system will automatically send an email to a preset address (or multiple addresses) which you specify.

Order Numbers
As mentioned before, the system will allocate order numbers to all shopping baskets, regardless of whether they proceed to the checkout or not. All orders are logged on the server and are available for viewing using FileMan. You are in total control of the format of your order number however you should use a numeric range somewhere within the order number format. The system will then automatically increment this.
